This original artwork is a part of Tracing Change, a group exhibition showcasing the work of artists from the Modern Times community and beyond. Tracing Change invites both artists and audience to trace back through thoughts and experiences, and experience a gratitude or curiosity for the ability to grow, transmute and transform.

“I am fascinated by the world adapting and transforming in an almost deliberate way. Somehow random and sometimes seemingly insignificant events are shaping the future like building blocks reaching for the sky.Their seams are traces mapping the paths of life. I use the process of destruction and building up to create a form that is simultaneously fractured, unified, dynamic, and rock like. This inherent contrariness demands questioning and evokes the narrative of tracing change," says Mulders.

About the Artist

Annemieke Mulders

Annemieke Mulders is driven by a need to understand the intricacies of world. In the past, this motivated her scientific research, now it inspires her ceramic art practice. She explores the tension between the orderly and the regular; the chaotic and the extreme. Mulders seeks to create something meaningful by combining both.

Her process is one of destruction and rebuilding - textures and forms are made through dividing, smashing and chiselling, followed by a careful rearranging and reassembly. This method brings a radical freedom and breaks away from conventional design elements. The emerging forms are simultaneously fragile, robust, complex and simple and evoke contemplation.

What is your return policy?

Please choose carefully as we do not offer refunds, exchanges or credit notes for change of mind on any one-off items which includes vintage furniture, original art and objects and made-to-order products. For any item that we hold repeatable stock of, we offer a limited return policy. This policy covers in-stock prints purchased in store, and some homewares and objects (return policy details can be found on individual product pages).

Do you offer click and collect?

Yes! Please select the option when checking out for pick up from our store on 311 Smith Street, Wurundjeri, Fitzroy. For larger items that require a vehicle, this entrance is the only access to our store. Unfortunately, we cannot offer assistance to your vehicle so please collect your items with this in mind.
