Mother of Pearl Pot, Stoneware 2023

$305.00

This original artwork is a part of Tracing Change, a group exhibition showcasing the work of artists from the Modern Times community and beyond. Tracing Change invites both artists and audience to trace back through thoughts and experiences, and experience a gratitude or curiosity for the ability to grow, transmute and transform.

“I made these pieces during my Artist Residency I attended earlier this year in Jingdezhen, China. Being in a new environment that pushed me outside of my regular ways of making has brought about rapid and exciting developments in my practice. Welcoming that change, I was inspired to reinvigorate the forms I use by applying newly found glaze techniques," says White.

About the Artist

Eloise White

Eloise White is an emerging artist and ceramicist working between Adelaide and Sydney. She graduated from the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Visual Arts, Printmedia & Drawing Major, and Bachelor of Commerce, Finance Major, in 2017. White is currently a Ceramic Associate at the JamFactory. As recipient of a travelling scholarship supported by JamFactory’s Medici Collective, she spent the Italian Summer undertaking an artist residency at Villa Lena and a marble carving workshop in Carrara.

White creates clay vessels using traditional hand-building techniques. The forms are created out of raw slabs of clay and coiling processes, leaving irregularities and natural pigments on the surface of the vessel. For White, this is an important aesthetic, as it unapologetically conveys the close relationship between the material, the form and its maker. She has exhibited her works in Scotland, Japan, and Australia.
