Jonathan Crowther is an award winning artist having previously won the The Churchie National Emerging Art Prize and the Eutick Memorial Still Life Award. He has been a finalist in a number of national art prizes including the Geelong Contemporary Art Prize, the Bayside Acquisitive Art Prize and the Substation Contemporary Art Prize. He graduated from the Victorian College of Arts with a Masters of Contemporary Art and continues to live and practice in Melbourne, Australia.

With his hyper-realistic style and over-size canvases, Crowther explores the mundane, finding beauty in the most unlikely of objects. His technique of building a painting with layer upon layer is exemplified in this work, showcasing his deft skill at creating form using shadow and light. The result is truly extraordinary.
