The design fair to rival all design fairs is coming this March.
We are very proud to announce our participation in the upcoming inaugural Melbourne Design Fair.
The first Melbourne Design Fair is an initiative of the National Gallery of Victoria and delivered in collaboration with the Melbourne Art Foundation. The event will be the first of its kind in Australia to highlight contemporary collectable design and break new ground in the presentation, promotion and sale of collectable contemporary design in Australia.

For Modern Times at Melbourne Design Fair discover new work, special editions and greatest hits by designers including by Dean Norton, Ebony Russell, Zachary Frankel, Nicole Lawrence, James Howe, Ashley Corbett-Smith (of Corbet), Studio Henry Wilson, Bettina Willner, Ash Fischer (of FISCHINC), Steven John Clark, Kenny Yong-soo Son, and Emily Hamann (of Ignem Terrae Ceramics).
“It has been a privilege to witness the growing appreciation for contemporary Australian design over recent years,” Modern Times Director Amy Malin said.
“I’m encouraged to see terms like functional art and collectable design becoming more broadly used and understood. And the idea that a design work can interrogate ideas and provoke discussion in the same way a ‘work of art’ can. As a community we are incredibly lucky to have people like Ewan McEoin and Simone LeAmon (Curators of Contemporary Design and Architecture at the NGV) spearheading this shift with their hands-on involvement in Design Week, directly engaging with galleries and designers and getting behind events such as the Melbourne Design Fair. The launch of Melbourne Design Fair will surely be the event to cement Australia as globally recognised destination for design. What an exciting time for design in Australia!”
This event is part of Melbourne Design Week 2022, an initiative of the Victorian Government in collaboration with the NGV.
