We’re excited to announce Irene Grishin-Selzer as our upcoming Artist in Focus.
For this series, Grishin-Selzer presents 14 pieces spanning object based works and clay paintings, continuing her engagement with the notion of transience in nature, the shape of time and the sense of place.
This collection explores the depths of light and shade, as well as select use of colour highlighted by the bold textures that characterise Grishin-Selzer’s practice.
May 13 – 20 2021
Online and in our Fitzroy showroom & gallery
Grishin-Selzer’s practice takes two interconnected forms: clay paintings which can be regarded as a form of abstract cartography – sprawling maps where scale is difficult to fathom, but with pockets of energy, the movement of tides and the build up of deeply encrusted topographical layers.
The second is object based pieces, which could be viewed as individual points of focus, tiny areas of exploration, or enigmatic relics and artefacts that carry the traces of ancient forms of spiritual energy.
This body of work encompasses both, and we look forward to sharing more of it with you from May 14.
