Clans: Kaytetye, Alyawarr

Marcus Camphoo Kemarre, aka ‘Double O’, is an Alyawarr and Kaytetye man living between Ali Curung and Tennant Creek. He paints at Arlpwe Art and Culture Centre and Nyinkka Nyunyu with the men’s collective the Tennant Creek Brio.

Camphoo works with oil on linen, sometimes on boards, with large abstract grids. His contemporary style is powerful and minimalist which expresses his mystical and other worldly personality.

Camphoo has amassed a strong resume of group shows with the Brio taking his work to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Alice Springs, Darwin and New Zealand. His works have been acquired by the National Gallery of Victoria and Araluen Arts Centre as well as several private collections.
