Drawing inspiration from nature, textiles and the history of ceramics, Joseph Turrin’s ceramic practice involves experimentation with a variety of form, colour and texture. His current work, with coil building the predominant technique used, is highly textured by highlighting the use of the hand with every finger impression through the creation of a scale like texture.

Joseph Turrin is based in Sydney, Australia. Turrin’s creations range from utilitarian pieces to unique vessels and sculptural pieces, and involves slip casting, hand building and surface manipulation. His playful approach to work traverses his interest in the history of ceramics, textiles and nature.
