About the work:
Aggregate Forms Pearly Shell with Gold Dollops Medium in Piped Porcelain by Ebony Russell.
Aggregate Forms are lumps combined into a mass of fragments or particles loosely compacted together. Combined at different stages in the making process from watery slip, slurry, and slag to leather hard pieces. The functional properties of the pieces are interfered with by the chaos of the making process which lends itself more to chance than a planned outcome. The orifice is available for you to fill in any way you see fit or can imagine.
Exhibited at Melbourne Design Fair 2022 until 20 March, 2022.
About the Artist:
Ebony Russell is an Australian artist currently based in Sydney. Her work focuses on notions of nostalgia and desire imbued in collected objects. Using an experimental construction method to produce sculptures made solely of piping – a technique usually reserved for the cake decorating craft of royal icing – she has developed a process that allows her to create forms that seem to defy their own making.
