This piece is part of Talismans, Rafts, Mementos: a group exhibition showcasing the work of the entire community of Modern Times artists. Throughout 2020 artists used their practice to make sense of what was happening, and this show celebrates this rich vein of creative output.

“‘I wanted to create a sculptural vessel that would hold light, specifically the dim glow of a candle. I envisioned the act of lighting a candle to be a reminder of slower times. To take you back and evoke a sense of calm and space. A place to contemplate and reflect,” says Tanika.

About the Artist:

Tanika is a Sydney based ceramic and floral artist. Inspired by nature, culture and architecture she creates one off pieces that inhabit the space between functional and sculptural. Working predominantly with stoneware, each piece is hand-built with its own subtle balance of form, colour and texture.
