Now synonymous with solid, hard-wearing construction, Dutch manufacturer Galvanitas began producing school furniture in 1934. Pairing industrial processes with pared-back design, the company helped to establish the utilitarian style that came to define Dutch mid-century modernism. Utilising the now traditional folded steel and East German Pagholtz wood (pressed ply), Galvanitas chairs can still be found in the majority of Dutch schools today.
