Founded by brothers Cesare and Umberto in 1927, Italian manufacturer Cassina went on to produce the work of many of the 20th century’s leading design innovators. Acquiring the rights to products designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand, the company released its renowned ‘Cassina I Maestri’ (Cassina Masters) Collection in 1964. This included the iconic LC1, LC2 and LC3 armchairs and the LC4 chaise longue. The collection was widened in 1968 following Cassina’s acquisition of Bauhaus reproduction rights—and again in 1971 with designs by Gerrit Rietveld and Frank Lloyd Wright. Some of Cassina’s most iconic pieces include the Maralunga by Vico Magistretti, Mario Bellini’s CAB chair and Gerrit Rietveld’s Zig-Zag chair.
