1178 LAVERNE II BY TOM BLACHFORD
line

Tom Blachford has continued to develop and expand his celebrated Midnight Modern photographic series capturing the iconic Modernist architecture of Palm Springs. Prominent properties such as the Kaufmann Residence, Frank Sinatra’s Twin Palms Estate and Frey II house are illuminated purely by moonlight and captured in Tom’s inimitable surreal and moody style.

“Palm Springs, to me, is an inhabited shrine to the sun, to cocktails and hedonism. It has functioned for so much of its life as a Mecca for design and lifestyle, I wanted to capture its dark side”.

This is a limited edition original photograph exhibited at Modern Times in 2017 as part of ‘Nocturnal Reflection: Midnight Modern III’.

Impeccably framed by United Measures in a dark stained Tasmanian Oak with contrasting spline joint and anti-reflective Museum Clear glass - the materials and hand finished details have been carefully chosen to reflect the subtle details of the work.

‘Nocturnal Reflection: Midnight Modern III’ coincides with the exciting launch of Tom’s first publication “Midnight Modern: Palm Springs Under the Full Moon”, a stunning coffee table book published by powerHouse, NYC, available here.
