About the work:
Sever to Salvage Sometimes, Original Artwork by Ro Noonan.
This original sculpture is part of Ro Noonan’s 2021 Artist in Focus series presented alongside Habits, a short film directed by Marie Vanguard and produced by PANPAN Films documenting “the ins and outs of Noonan’s making process”.
“Lumpy accumulations that dance around being pinned down, like a memory you can’t quite form or name you can’t remember. The work embodies an in between-ness and a sort of-ness. Built with familiar found materials - the forms are simultaneously a room, a feeling or yesterday’s lunch. The making and the looking are not too dissimilar, a puzzle with an unknown outcome. These are slow works for slow looking, stacked and loaded with the familiar and the everyday - a colour talking to a texture leading you to a feeling.” - Ro Noonan.
About the Artist:
Ro Noonan is a Melbourne based artist whose practice oscillates between painting and sculpture. He has an innate preoccupation with materials and surface, in particular the excess and the bi-products of construction: cut offs, supports and general debris.
