Original artwork by Melbourne artist Ria Green, in oil paint and satin glaze on bisque porcelain with a limed finish.

Ria Green’s work examines ephemeral moments of wonderment found in the natural world and built environment. Her work explores the possibilities of representation using colour, light and found objects through the process of painting, hand-made forms and installation. This body of work is inspired by a recent trip to Nikko, Japan.

These works capture the cool blue of the distant mountains, the rich green forest partially covered with perfect white snow and the misty haze of the clouds and light rain moving across the marshland. The additional elements capture textures, light and form that complement the painted works, and represent the light and movement of the experienced landscape.

This work by contemporary Australian artist Emma Lipscombe, is part of the Modern Times Summer Series, a fresh collection of inspirational pieces by emerging and accomplished artists from across Australia.
