Ria Green’s work examines ephemeral moments of wonderment found in the natural world and built environment. Her work explores the possibilities of representation using colour, light and found objects through the process of painting, hand-made forms and installation.
”My practice explores the resonance and affect of the environment on the spiritual, emotional and physical self. Through the process of painting, with a particular focus on colour and light. My work presents abstracted representations of ephemeral moments of wonderment found in the natural world. By capturing these visceral experiences of awe, time is suspended momentarily enabling the sublime surfaces to reveal themselves,” Green says.
About the Artist:
Ria Green is a Melbourne based artist who works across photography, painting, ceramics, glass and textiles. Her work explores ideas around wonderment, informed by the complex historical and cultural legacy of the sublime. Green graduated with a Masters in Fine Art from RMIT in 2013 and has exhibited nationally and internationally since 2009.
